- Authentic Tea Picking: Put on a traditional bamboo basket and head into the fields to harvest the delicate “one bud, two leaves” from the spring tea bushes.
- Traditional Tea Roasting: Experience the “Hand-Frying” technique. Under professional guidance, feel the warmth of the iron pans as you roast fresh leaves to lock in their floral aroma.
- Song Dynasty Tea Whisking: Practice the elegant art of “Dian Cha”—the ancient ceremony of whisking tea into a fine froth, exactly as the literati did 1,000 years ago.

YUNQI BAMBOO PATH (optional depending on time)
If time allows, you could escape the crowds and find sanctuary in the “Bamboo World” of Yunqi. This serene forest trail, famous for its emerald-green canopy and mist-shrouded hills, offers a deep dive into the tranquil side of Hangzhou’s nature.
What to expect:
- A Cinematic Backdrop: Step into a scene straight out of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” The towering bamboo stalks and ethereal atmosphere perfectly recreate the iconic martial arts aesthetic of the Oscar-winning film.
- The Royal Stone Path: Walk along the historic 1-kilometer cobblestone path once favored by the Qing Dynasty Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong, winding through a swaying emerald forest.
- Ancient Botanical Wonders: Beyond the bamboo, discover the “Queen of Trees”—a magnificent ginkgo over 1,000 years old—and centuries-old maples that have guarded this path for generations (best in Autumn).
- Zen & Cool Sanctuary: Known as Hangzhou’s most “zen” escape, this valley stays naturally cool even in the peak of summer, offering a quiet, spiritual reprieve from the city’s bustle.
Best Time to Visit
The tea bushes follow a natural rhythm, and our hands-on picking activities are tied to the life cycle of the Longjing plant.
What to know:
- Peak Season (March – October): This is the window for a complete experience. March and April are the most prestigious months for “Spring Tea,” offering the most delicate buds. From May to October, the fields remain lush and green, providing excellent conditions for picking, roasting, and photography.
- The Winter Dormancy (November – February): During the colder months, tea trees enter a period of “winter rest.” As the plants stop growing new leaves to conserve energy, hands-on picking is not available during this time.
